The display at Today’s Hair & Day Spa on Market Street.POTSDAM — Seven businesses participated in the Potsdam Chamber’s holiday display contest this season and Today’s Hair & Day Spa was the winner.
The salon, at 36 Market St., decorated in a “Peace in the World” theme that included music.
Today’s Hair won two large pizzas from their choice of local pizza locations.
“This is not their first win; they also won in 2014 and 2015,” according to Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marylee Ballou.
In the runner up position was Best Friends Thrift Shop at 8 Raymond Street with their “A Home Fur the Holidays” themed windows. “The creative way they did the fireplace, use of items from the shop, and pure cuteness made the display a favorite,” Ballou mentioned. The five members of their volunteer crew will receive a gift card from Arby’s.
Potsdam Arby’s manager Jessica Compos offered this prize to recognize the efforts of this organization, Ballou said.
The thrift shop is taking bids on the LLBean toboggan featured in their display until Dec. 18. Other items used in display will be available for sale next week in the shop along with many other holiday décor and gift items.
“Our judges enjoyed all the displays this year,” Ballou said. “We appreciate those businesses that participated and all Potsdam businesses that take that extra time to decorate their storefronts.”
Other participating businesses included: Foxy Roxy’s, Bicknell Appliance & Home Interiors, Harris Medical, Soul Waffle, and Penski Inc.
