POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Central School District recently received $5,000 from Corning to create Maker Spaces in the school libraries.
A Maker Space is a collaborative work place for students. They can include "low-tech" materials such as cardboard, art supplies, and Legos as well as "high-tech" items, such as 3-D printers.
The donation is the result of a grant written by Lawrence Avenue Elementary School Principal Jennifer Gray, A.A. Kingston Middle School Principal Mark Bennett, and teaching assistant Amy Murphy.
Dave Lucht, manager of the Corning, Canton plant recently presented a $5,000 check from the Corning Foundation to the Potsdam Central School District.
