POTSDAM -- Every December the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce runs a holiday window display contest for businesses wishing to participate and this year’s winner is Pinto, Mucenski, Hooper VanHouse.

“Our judges were very impressed with the displays this year,“ said Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marylee Ballou.

This year there were eleven entries.

“They ranged from nostalgic to whimsical. We could see how much thought, time, and fun these businesses had in creating their displays.”

The winner for 2016 is the nostalgic and heartwarming tribute that Pinto, Mucenski, Hooper VanHouse created, Ballou said.

“It had so many levels and used the space well…back to front and even outside the window as well,” said one judge. “The music just put it over the top,” said another judge. “It was like going back in time to the 1940’s and peeking into the windows of a home prepared to greet their military family members home for Christmas.”

As winners, Pinto, Mucenski, Hooper VanHouse will receive a pizza party arranged by the chamber.

Honorable mentions include: Today’s Hair & Day Spa with their Grinch inspired theme; Mh Studios with their Santa post-Christmas Eve. Snapshot; Brick & Mortar Music with their gravity defying instruments, and Misty Hollow for their “Santa prepares for the big night” display.

Photos of these displays can be seen on the Potsdam Chamber Facebook page. “But we encourage everyone to take a stroll around and see them in person,” said Ballou.

The Potsdam Chamber thanks all our businesses that decorate their storefronts during this time of year whether they enter the contest of not because in the end we all get to enjoy how these displays add to the festive appearance of our business districts.
