MASSENA -- An old cemetery in Massena Center will get cleaned up through a $3,000 Alcoa Action grant.
The company will send some of their employees along with volunteers from the Massena Museum to do the work.
Councilman Steve O’Shaughnessy said they probably won’t touch the headstones.
“I don’t think they’re going to do anything with the headstones,” he said at Wednesday’s Town Council meeting.
John Michaud, a documentarian and local history buff, said it’s not an easy task to properly restore the old stones.
“It’s a lengthy process,” he said.
“Hopefully they will be restored, eventually,” O’Shaughnessy said.
