OGDENSBURG -- Solarize Ogdensburg is taking part in Community Solar NY, a program that will make investing in solar power easier and more affordable for local residents and businesses.
“Community Solar NY makes implementing solar easier and more affordable by supporting locally-organized community outreach aimed at getting a critical mass of area homes and businesses to install solar and obtain competitive pricing, thereby lowering the cost,” the Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce said in a news release. “Historically, Solarize campaigns lower the cost of solar 10 to 20 percent.”
Residents and businesses who sign up for solar installations by October 31 will be able to take advantage of below market rates, a free site assessment, and streamlined installation process.
The campaign will kick off at the chamber’s Car-B-Que June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center in Ogdensburg. Scheduled presentations in the council chambers at City Hall at 6 p.m. on June 15 and on June 22 and another presentation on June 29 at 6 p.m. at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center. Residents and businesses owners who are interested in learning more about Solarize Ogdensburg can attend.
"Clean energy businesses in New York State anticipate growing more than 6 percent this year, more than double the rate of growth in US economy in 2015. ANCA is thrilled to support two local solar companies as the selected installers for the Solarize the Ogdensburg program. Fourth Coast and Northern Lights Solar have a strong presence in the North Country and are responsible for multiple solar conversions across the North Country. We look forward to watching them grow in the coming months,” said Kate Fish, ANCA executive director
