Ogdensburg Rescue’s new quarters benefit from $25,000 in rehab aid from National Grid

OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, which conducted an open house this weekend for its recently completed new home, received financial help for the renovation project from a $25,000 National Grid Main Street Revitalization grant.

The two-story 18,000-square-foot building at 101 State St., formerly the Hacketts building, now has offices, meeting rooms and bunkrooms for the squad.

“At a time when grant funding from other sources seems to have dried up, National Grid has come through with a significant grant in support of our building project and our mission of providing quality emergency medical services to the citizens of Ogdensburg and surrounding communities,” said William Lovely, secretary of the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Since the inception of its Main Street Revitalization program in 2003, National Grid has awarded 107 grants for a total of nearly $4,500,000 to projects that rehabilitated and occupied vacant commercial and mixed-use buildings in commercial corridors across New York.
