Ogdensburg chamber seeks nods for three awards to be given in November

OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the awards to be presented at their annual dinner Friday, Nov. 3, at the Gran-View Restaurant.

Citizen of the Year

People can nominate the person, couple or family with a written nomination and a brief explanation about what qualifies them for Citizen of the Year Award.

"Criteria for this award are: Is this service work or part of their job? If it is part of their job – do they go above the job description? Have they been involved in a variety of projects or groups over the years? Does their work impact many or just a few? Are they creative? Are they leaders who motivate others? Do they work hard to improve Ogdensburg and/or the surrounding communities?" according to an email from the chamber.

Business Improvement Award

People should nominate the business with a written nomination and a brief explanation about their qualities for the Business Improvement Award.

The chamber is looking for nominees "who have had a profound positive impact on the community and its appearance by renovating and revitalizing an existing building or area into a thriving business enterprise in which the community can be proud," the chamber said in an email.

"Criteria for this award are: Has the nominee renovated or revitalized an existing site? Is the business thriving? Has the improvement to the site made a positive impact on the community? Does the business impact many people or just a few?" the email said.

Outstanding Community Service Award

The chamber is seeking a group or organization "who has made a substantial contribution of their time, work and philosophies into a project or program for which the entire Ogdensburg and surrounding communities benefits," they said in an email.

People should nominate the group or organization with a written nomination and a brief explanation about what qualifies them for the Outstanding Community Service Award.

"Criteria for this award are: Does their service extend to all citizens in the city and surrounding communities? Have they been providing this service for many years? Does their service provide a feeling of pride and well-being for our city? Does this group or organization promote the City of Ogdensburg?" the chamber said,

Some nominees have been nominated in at least two categories in the past.

All nomination forms may be picked up at the chamber office or downloaded from our website at: www.ogdensburgny.com.

Nominations must be received by Friday, Oct. 6.
