OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner, Friday Nov. 14 at the Gran View Restaurant.

The dinner drew a crowd of 230 people which was one of the largest turnouts in recent years, according to board member Sean McNamara.

The event featured food, auctions, raffles and awards.

The chamber named Thomas Luckie Sr. its 2014 Citizen of the Year.

Luckie served as the executive director of the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club for 38 years and was instrumental in building the club into what it is today, the chamber said.

He was also active in the Ogdensburg Lion’s Club, Ogdensburg school board, Ogdensburg City Council and the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators and has worked on many community events and causes throughout the years, the chamber said.

Don and Judi Ashley of Phillips Diner received the 2014 Business Improvement Award. Phillips Diner has been family-owned and operated in Ogdensburg since 1948, the chamber said. In recent years, they completely restored the exterior and the roof, and added a new front entrance, new front sign, windows and doors.

Kimro’s Medicine Place and the family of Kim and Rose Demers were honored with the 2014 Outstanding Community Service Award. They have worked through the Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club and other organizations to promote our community and improve the quality of life and health of residents, the chamber said in a statement.
