OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce has launched a new program aimed at increasing local shopping.
“Chamber Dollars” are much like a gift card or gift certificate. They are actually a check from the Chamber of Commerce that can be used at participating businesses throughout the community.
This is an effort by he chamber to keep shopping dollars local. Chamber Dollars encourage people to shop locally, which in turn, the chamber says “strengthens our economy and supports business growth. It also keeps tax revenues local.”
Businesses that would like to participate can contact the chamber by Oct. 26 at 393-3620. There is no cost to businesses to participate. Businesses will be listed on the chamber’s website, on a rack card included with each check purchase, and in the chamber’s monthly newsletter.
“Featured” businesses will offer a small incentive for people to spend their Chamber Dollars at that business, for example, a 10 percent discount or a free soda with a meal.
Chamber Dollars can be purchased at the chamber office at 1 Bridge Plaza, at the white building at the foot of the bridge to Canada. They can only be redeemed at local participating merchants.
Contact the chamber for more information.
