OGDENSBURG – The 38th annual Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Expo raised an estimated eighty to ninety thousand dollars during their expo last weekend, which is roughly 25 percent of their annual budget.
“Not sure of the final numbers yet…but the crowds were great all weekend,” said Tom Luckie Jr., club director.
The club funds rasied will directly support operating costs for the club to provide programming and opportunities for youth.
“It takes around $354,000 annually to operate the club,” Luckie said.
In talking about what people seemed to enjoy the most about the expo this year, Luckie said “many people commented on the entertainment and the many different types of businesses and services at the event.”
Bob Marceau of Ogdensburg won the $5,000 grand prize for the Ogdensburg Boys’ and Girls’ Club annual raffle.
The event was filled with people, vendors and businesses last weekend despite wintry conditions and featured boats, trucks, “Club Idol,” live entertainment and a new inflatable obstacle course for kids.
Luckie said he wanted to give a big thanks to all vendors, businesses and about 500 volunteers who make the event possible.
