St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union (SLFCU) will be commemorating the 60th anniversary of its opening throughout 2014.

SLFCU opened its doors on November 10, 1954. Its first office was located in the Center Building at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center. In November, 1990, SLFCU moved to Commerce Park Drive and in June, 2013, the credit union held a grand opening of its new branch lobby at the Commerce Drive location. Something to watch for in 2014 is some exciting growth planned at the Canton location.

The year-long 60th anniversary celebration will include monthly prize giveaways and “birthday parties” with free refreshments held on the second Friday of every month in all 3 branch locations.

SLFCU CEO Todd Mashaw said, “We are proud of 60 years of growth and service to our community. It is fitting that we celebrate with the people who have made our credit union grow. We look forward to a wonderful year of celebrating our success and many more years of service to our loyal members.”

SLFCU members are asked to register every month in any SLFCU branch or www.stlawrfcu.com for each month’s prize giveaway. While no purchase is necessary to enter, those entering must be SLFCU members. Non-members are invited to join SLFCU to participate in the prize giveaways. To find out about becoming a member, visit the website or call 393-3530.

Mashaw added, “Our mission is to be a trusted provider of financial services while building lasting relationships with our members, employees, and community. Sixty years of service is a testament to St. Lawrence Federal succeeding in its mission. Moving forward, our goal is to be the primary financial institution to our current membership and our future members in St. Lawrence County.”

SLFCU membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in St. Lawrence County. St. Lawrence Federal is wholly owned by its more than 10,400 members and has approximately $101 million in assets. St. Lawrence Federal has three branches located at: 800 Commerce Park Drive, Ogdensburg; 333 State Street, Ogdensburg; and 11 Court Street, Canton.
