The New York Power Authority was recently recognized for taking care of the environment in the rights-of-way around its electricity transmission towers, according to NYPA.
The Right-of-Way Stewardship Council accredited NYPA as a Right-of-Way Steward Utility Founder for its vegetation management around its 16,000 acres of transmission right-of-way area, NYPA said.
The ROSWC criteria for accreditation in part come from the Forest Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forestry Initiative, NYPA said, adding that those receiving accreditation are subjected to an independent audit.
