CANTON -- North Country Savings Bank sponsored the St. Lawrence County Fair Housing Task Force’s recent public service announcement to raise awareness that housing discrimination is illegal.
The county Board of Legislators designated April as Fair Housing Month to commemorate the passage of the Federal Fair Housing Act.
The support helped the task force published an online banner to inform the public that refusing to rent to persons with a disability is illegal.
“The banner ad was posted on northcountrynow.com and was seen by more than 88,000 viewers in April,” task force member Matilda M. Larson said.
