MASSENA -- Oneida County’s executive has been appointed as a trustee of the New York Power Authority (NYPA), which has significant power generation facilities at the Robert Moses Power Dam in Massena.
Anthony J. Picente, Jr., Oneida County executive since 2006, was recently appointed to the NYPA post by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He was then elected to a full four-year term in 2007 and re-elected in 2011.
Picente was named regional director of the Empire State Development Corporation in 2001 and, two years later, was promoted to vice president of ESDC, a position he held until 2006.
Picente has an associate’s degree from Mohawk Valley Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Utica College.
NYPA, with headquarters just north of New York City in White Plains, operates hydroelectric generation stations at Massena, Niagara Falls, and elsewhere around the state.
