CANTON – A new electronic smoke shop opened Sept. 1 offering a variety of electronic cigarettes, juices and accessories for people looking to quit smoking.

Top Fuel Vapors, 1 Hodskin St., offers several vapor smoking devices as well as 22 flavors of e-juice.

Owner Shandelle Clifford says that after her stepfather and co-storeowner Tommy Benson would play cards with her mother and grandparents and see them smoking all the time. He then decided to open an electronic smoke shop in an effort to get them to quit.

Benson opened his first shop in Texas, where he lives. He was in the North Country this fall for a wedding and noticed that the area did not have an electronic smoke shop and decided to open one.

“My grandfather smoked four packs a day and now he doesn't smoke,” she said. “My mom and husband have both quit as well.”

Clifford said she is smoked but has cut back from a pack a day to three or less cigarettes a day in about three weeks after using the flavored juices.

Each month a new flavor will be added until the shop has around 50.

Flavors currently for sale include strawberry, watermelon, candy cane, cinnamon, coffee, gingerbread, tobacco and menthol.

The juices are made by Benson in Texas and shipped up to the store in Canton.

Clifford said smokers can choose from a their level of nicotine, from 0 to 24 mg per bottle, while they wean off of cigarettes.

They normally suggest for heavy smokers to start out around 18 mg, but will work with customers.

“People can get zero level nicotine…some just need to fulfill the sensation of smoking,” she said.

A starter kit is available for $34 and includes a tank, battery, charger and fluid. Better quality tanks cost from $60 to $109.

The store will open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. They are closed Sunday and Monday.
