Massena Meals on Wheels to hold radio telethon, auction on Oct. 1

MASSENA – Massena Meals on Wheels Week will climax with a radio telethon on Friday, Oct. 1 with WMSA, cable channel 30, Slic. com, and others promoting the program and helping to auction off donated items.

Sanford T. Cook and Shawn Gray will emcee midday and afternoon auction sessions. Items for the auction are being sought. It could be a product your business wants to promote, or a gift certificate, or many other suitable items you might think of. If you can’t donate an auction item, you might consider a cash donation.

“Rising costs of food and supplies are creating a substantial shortfall in out budget,” an announcement about the telethon said.

Meals on Wheels support people in the community who, for one reason or another, cannot prepare their own meals. Last month, Massena Meals on Wheels delivered over 1,500 meals. The goal this year is to raise $15,000.
