MASSENA -- The village is rebranding the Massena Business Development Corporation to the Business and Community Development Corporation and they are advertising for a new director.
At Tuesday's village board meeting, Mayor Tim Currier said the BCDC will be "aimed at improving quality of life in Massena" with a "strong emphasis placed on revitalizing neighborhoods."
The village and town jointly fund the corporation, but their new director will be an employee of the BCDC, Currier said.
Trustee Tim Ahlfeld said he thinks the village and town should be the ones writing the contract.
"We should be able to write that contract for that employee. We need to be very, very careful there," he said.
The corporation will conduct interviews and the village board will not have to approve the hire, Currier said.
