Kaneb Orchards of Massena was awarded the 2014 Best New York Craft Cider at the recent New York Wine and Food Classic in Watkins Glen.

It's hosted by the Wine and Grape Foundation and the governor presents the awards for best wine, cider, spirits and beer.

This is the first-ever award for Kaneb’s new St. Lawrence Cider Hard Cider.

This year, there were 20 cideries that entered the contest.

Lt. Governor Robert Duffy presented the award.

Kaneb Orchards will be opening the cider house this weekend Aug. 22 for the season. Customers over 21 years of age can taste or sample the hard cider and purchase it there.
