Kinney drugs donates to ‘Swim a Mile for Hospice’ event in Hannawa Falls

HANNAWA FALLS -- The Kinney Drugs Foundation recently presented Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley with a “Platinum Sponsorship” for the upcoming Swim a Mile for Hospice event to be held Saturday, Aug. 6 at Postwood Park in Hannawa Falls.

“The generous sponsorship of the Kinney Drugs Foundation has given us a significant head start in our fundraising efforts for this year’s event,” said Kellie Hitchman. Event Coordinator. “Preparations are going very well with 33 registered swimmers and many volunteers signed up,” she continued.

“Participants must be a minimum of 12 years old. All abilities are welcome and there is a half- mile course option as well. There are skilled athletes who participate, but also many individuals who do it for a personal challenge or to remember a loved one who benefited from our services. We also need the help of 20 to 30 kayakers and five or six power boats to complete our safety team. This is an incredible event with many opportunities to become involved. Hospice is extremely grateful to the Kinney Drugs Foundation for their support of Swim a Mile for Hospice” said Ms. Hitchman.

For more information, to register or donate visit www.swimamileforhospice.org.

To date, the event has raised nearly $150,000 to support services for patients and their families throughout St. Lawrence County.
