CANTON – Hundreds of health care employees and members of their administrative teams visited the first NNY Safe Patient Handling Vendor Fair at Maplewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Tuesday.

“We know that patient and resident safety is a very important issue,” said Terry Micelli, Director of Rehabilitative Services for United Helpers. “We were pleased to help showcase items that can help keep both our residents and our staff safe.”

Fair attendees were encouraged to test, evaluate and learn first hand about different types of assistive equipment and new products. Ceiling lifts, shower chairs, sit to stand devices, special sheets, and many other products were on hand for participants to try.

Among the presenters were North Country Medical Supplies, Marra’s Home Care, Harris Medical Supplies, Kinney Drugs, McKesson, SureHands Lift and Care, McAuley Medical, New England Medical Systems, Emerald Resources Healthcare, EZ Way, ArjoHuntleigh, Wy’East Medical, and Tri-Lakes Medical Equipment.

We had an excellent turnout for our first fair,” said Micelli. “We expect to host another in the future. The topic of safety is one that we should never lose sight of.”
