POTSDAM – St. Lawrence Chocolates and Rose & Kiernan Insurance Agency will sponsor a Halloween costume contest during the annual Fright Night activities on Thursday, Oct. 28 at the new Potsdam Chamber offices at 24 Market St.

Skinny the Skelton is expected to be the master of ceremonies for this event for infants, children and adults.

We will have five age divisions,” said Angela Ballou, St. Lawrence Chocolates shop manager. “Five guest judges will evaluate each on originality, creativity and costume character attitude, meaning if the costume is a cat, and the participants gives us ‘cat-itude’ on the runway, they will likely score extra points.”

Anyone interested in participating can pre-register by sending name, grade, home town, phone number, and an answer to the question, “The Scariest Part of Halloween is?” by email to [email protected] or to [email protected], or by filling out an entry at St. Lawrence Chocolates or the Potsdam Chamber. Participants may also register the night of the event at 5:30 at the Chamber Office.

The infant and toddler division will show at 5:45; Pre K- 1st Grade at 6 p.m., 2nd grade – 4 grade at 6:15 p.m.; 5th -8th grade at 6:30 p.m.; 9th grade – adults at 6:45. Times are approximated and depend on the number of participants in each division.

First place awards will be given at the end of each division’s session. Winners will receive a goodie basket from St. Lawrence Chocolates. Each participant will also receive a treat bag.

In case of rain, the event will be canceled and prizes drawn randomly from the names received from those who pre-register.
