MASSENA -- Two five-year seats on the Massena Memorial Hospital Board of Managers were filled Thursday night and are looking to fill a third, according to Town Supervisor Joseph Gray.
Loretta Perez was named to fill Darrel Paquin’s seat and Scott Wilson will take the seat formerly occupied by Andrew Spanburgh, who served as board chairman. Wilson is also CEO of Seacomm Federal Credit Union.
Gray said at the Town Council’s December meeting that Spanburgh and Paquin were not seeking re-appointment.
“We thank them for their years of service,” Gray said Thursday.
“The … appointment would make them an even number, they’re hesitant to have an even number,” Gray said.
There are still two empty board seats, one formerly occupied by Kirk Wilmhurst and the other has been vacant for several years. The board currently has 14 members.
“They’re hesitant to have an even number,” Gray said, adding “there’s still a couple people I want to talk to” about filling Wilmhurst’s seat.
Gray has the sole power to appoint MMH board members, according to the hospital’s by-laws and local laws.
