CANTON – The Freihofer’s Bakery Outlet had a successful grand re-opening at its new location, 30 Court St.
“It went really well,” said manager Mary Jean Maitland. “We probably had a record day in sales and customers that day,” on Saturday, June 27.
The store opened the new location after moving from 19 Miner St., in the Rite Aid Plaza.
“It’s just a better location, and it about doubled our space,” Maitland said.
She and three others handle the work of the store, the same number as before.
She explained that they carry much more than “day-old bread.”
“We have so much more than bread. People come in and are surprised by how many products we carry here,” including the cakes, cookies and more that Freihofer’s bakes.
She also said what they sell has not gone past it’s “sell-by” date. Those items are pulled from their shelves on those dates, she explained.
She said that the route drivers drop of things they taken back from grocery stores “to try to recover some money from what comes back from the grocery.”
