CANTON -- A used car dealership software company is more than doubling their office space on U.S. Highway 11 with plans to hire over 100 more employees over the next few years.
"They are pushing the dirt now," said Michael Frazer, owner of Frazer Computing.
Frazer Computer, 6196 U.S. Highway 11, has seen its customer base more than double since 2011 and needs space to accommodate more employees needed in the coming months and years.
The multi-story building will add 14,000 square feet of space to the existing 11,000 square feet for a total of 25,000 square feet of office space.
"It takes time to get these things done…but it should be completed in four to five months, " Frazer said.
Once the project is complete Frazer expects to slowly add employees to the business. They employ 65 people now and the office space can accommodate about 72 people comfortably, he says.
“Hiring will be slow and steady,” Frazer said.
Frazer, a Potsdam native, started the Frazer Computing while living in Atlanta in 1985, but decided to move back to the North Country in 2001 to grow the company.
Frazer said the reason for the company’s success and growth can be attributed to “great, smart people who work for a wage that is good for them and works for the company too.”
Frazer Computing has a major portion of the market share compared to other dealer management systems across the country, according to Frazer. He said there about 130,000 used car dealerships in the country and 14,500 of them are customers of his.
“We run everything for their (car dealers) businesses,” Frazer said.
The software provides record-keeping, financing, tracking vehicles, costs, expenses and profits for dealers.
