After 14 years, Potsdam's Shear Creations moves to larger location

POTSDAM – After 14 years at 20 Elm St., Shear Creations has moved to 75 Market St., next to Sandstone Drive.

The hair salon is adding space, employees and services.

“We’re closing at 1 p.m. and opening at the new place on Monday,” Jeannie Williams said last Friday.
“We just needed to expand,” Williams said. “We’re doubling the square footage.”

In addition to employees Jackie Planty, Meaghan Remington and Heather Devine, Williams says she has added or will be adding Kara Robinson to the hair staff, Ramsey Thomann as a full-time massage therapist, doing full-body, chair, and hand and foot massages; and part-time nail technician Mary Broughton is now full-time, doing manicures, pedicures, acrylics, and paraffin hand and foot waxes.

Those services are in addition to the cutting, perming and coloring hair, facials and tanning she has offered.

“So we have outgrown the space,” Williams said. “And it’s handicapped accessible, which is a plus for our senior citizen customers, and there’s great parking out front.”
