OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center recently welcomed Katherine Richey, a certified family nurse practitioner, to its medical staff.

Richey is working in the hospitalist program at the medical center with plans to join Dr. Marta Anghel’s practice in October.

Richey graduated from Ithaca College, Ithaca, in 2004, with a bachelor of science degree in organizational communication, learning and design. She then attended Crouse Hospital College of Nursing in Syracuse, graduating with an associate of applied science degree in nursing in 2007. She went on to earn her master of science degree as a family nurse practitioner from the State University at Upstate, Syracuse, in 2014. She completed 600 hours of clinical rotations across the lifespan from newborns to geriatrics.

She is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

When Richey, a Syracuse native, was asked what she brings to Claxton-Hepburn she stated, “I bring a fresh perspective to medicine with a nursing background. I am also dedicated to the advancement of the nursing profession through certification and education.” Her clinical interests include prevention, screenings, and health maintenance.
