MASSENA - Dick's Sporting Goods could be moving into the St. Lawrence Centre mall, according to Marketing Manager Ronald J. Patnode.
While nothing is confirmed at this time, Patnode said Spinoso Real Estate Group, Syracuse, a leasing firm which helps bring stores into the mall, has been talking with Dick's Sporting Goods for some time.
He said the company has also been working to bring in a Kohl's Department Store, but those discussions have not progressed at the same rate.
Patnode said he looks forward to bringing new businesses into the mall, but no deal has been made yet.
"We are talking to both of these folks. Discussions with Dick's are moving along," he said. "We really don't know for sure if we will be able to get them, but we are certainly excited about any new retailers at the St. Lawrence Centre," he said.
Dick's operates more than 450 stores in at least 42 states, primarily in the eastern half of the United States. The store offers a broad assortment of brand name sporting goods equipment, apparel and footwear in a specialty store environment.
Kohl's operates 1,100 stores in the U.S. The chain was the 20th-largest retailer in the nation in 2011 in terms of revenue. The stores feature apparel, shoes and accessories for women, children and men, plus home products like small electronics, bedding, luggage and more.
Patnode said there are currently about 40 stores operating in the St. Lawrence Centre.
He said the building is about 537,000 square feet, including the arena.
