MASSENA – Dick’s Sporting Goods will open a 50,000 square-foot store in the St. Lawrence Centre in the spring of 2014.

The new store will offer a vast assortment of outdoor equipment, accessories and services in hunting, fishing, archery, camping, golf, bikes and more. In-store pro services will also be provided.

“Construction is anticipated to begin in early fall of 2013,” said David Viola, general manager for St. Lawrence Centre.

Dick’s will occupy the former TJ Maxx location as well as expand further into the mall, picking up an additional 20,000 square-feet of retail space.

Dick’s will have an exterior entrance as well as a themed common area entrance in the front of the mall between JCPenney and Sears.

“The addition of Dick’s Sporting Goods is merely the first step in our redevelopment plan to transform the property into a regional destination,” Abdi Mahamedi, president of Carlyle Development Group said. “The addition of Dick’s should act as a catalyst to attract additional national, regional and local tenants alike. Our focus is on providing an updated shopping, entertainment and social experience for the Region.”

Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. is a sporting goods retailer that offers brand name sporting goods equipment, apparel, and footwear. The Company also owns and operates Golf Galaxy, LLC, a golf specialty retailer.

As of Feb. 2, 2013, the Company operated 518 Dick's stores in 44 states, 81 Golf Galaxy stores in 30 states and eCommerce websites and catalog operations for Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy.
