CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency, Cornell Cooperative Extension and the county Chamber of Commerce will get large portions of St. Lawrence County’s latest casino compact payment, the county legislature decided in a special meeting Monday.
The county will receive $385,410 as its third quarter 2014 payment.
Lawmakers passed a resolution that breaks down the disbursement:
• St. Lawrence County IDA - $100,000 “for economic development”
• Cornell Cooperative Extension - $48,204 “for education and assistance to farmers”
• St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce - $45,851 “for tourism promotion”
• Soil and Water Conservation District - $35,719 for a forestry contract, also $8,849 “for assistance to farmers and residents”
• Bass Anglers Sportsmen’s Society (BASS) - $30,000 for northeastern division tournament
• St. Lawrence County Youth Bureau - $23,504 “for provision of job readiness”
• $20,053 to pay for a county grants manager
• “Coordination for trail services in St. Lawrence County” - $18,000
• County Social Services Employment Unit - $18,875
• Workforce Investment Act - $18,125 “for job readiness”
• Regional Economic Development Council - $10,000 “for staffing”
• St. Lawrence County Historical Association - $8,238
