POTSDAM -- Clarkson University's entrepreneurship program is again one of the top 20 in the nation, according to the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.

The two have named Clarkson to their undergraduate schools list of "Top Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies for 2016," where it ranks #17 www.princetonreview.com/entrepreneur.

Based on surveys of business school administrators at more than 300 institutions with entrepreneurship programs, the annual list salutes 25 undergraduate programs for their excellence in entrepreneurship education.

"We are honored to be recognized for our programs that enable students to start actual businesses and learn the principles of entrepreneurship by bringing real products and services to the marketplace," said Clarkson School of Business Dean Dayle M. Smith. "The interdisciplinary programming fosters a vibrant entrepreneurial community across campus, and there are plans for design challenges and working closely with START-UP NY, the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship and the Shipley Center for Innovation. These opportunities empower our students both in the classroom and in extracurricular initiatives on the Clarkson campus and in partnerships abroad."

The Princeton Review chooses the top schools based on a wide range of institutional data it evaluates for this project. Schools are asked about the levels of their commitment to entrepreneurship inside and outside the classroom, the percentage of their faculty, students, and alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number of their mentorship programs, and their funding for scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies and projects.

Clarkson has also been nationally recognized for its annual competition in which up to five young entrepreneurs or innovators have an opportunity to attend Clarkson without tuition through a combination of merit-based financial aid (after accounting for other aid for which the student may be eligible) and the acquisition by the University of an ownership interest in their business ventures. Applications for the 2016 Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators Program are online at http://www.clarkson.edu/equity.

The top entrepreneurship program lists are posted on the Princeton Review's website at http://www.princetonreview.com/entrepreneur.

Entrepreneur will publish its feature article on the list in its December issue available on newsstands Nov. 17 and on www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges.
