Clarkson University named one of Money Magazine's top 10 percent of 'best value' schools

POTSDAM – Money Magazine named Clarkson University to the top 10 percent of its list of "736 schools that provide the best value for your tuition dollar."

Money says that it "determined which of the country's roughly 1,500 four-year colleges and universities deliver the most value—that is, a great education, at an affordable price, that helps students launch promising careers."

The staff screened out schools with graduation rates below the median and those facing financial difficulties. The remaining colleges were ranked on educational quality, affordability, and alumni earnings. They also included: a "value added" grade that considered how well students at each school did vs. what would be expected given their economic and academic backgrounds and the institution's mix of majors. Other factors considered included merit aid, parent and student borrowing, the length of time to graduate and tuition increases.

This is just the latest ranking to laud Clarkson University as a best value or for its return on investment. In May, the Brookings Institution ranked Clarkson in the top 10 of "universities that increase salaries the most," saying that a Clarkson degree will increase your earnings by 42 percent, on average. Last fall, PayScale reported that Clarkson graduates have some of the highest salaries in the nation, according to its 2015 College Salary Report.
