OGDENSBURG-- Carrothers and Clough law firm is up and running in Ogdensburg.

The new firm features attorneys Alice J. Carrothers, Molly Clough and Rebecca Simser, all formerly of Carlisle, Carrothers and Clough, which dissolved recently.

Clough said the firm located, at 1033 Paterson St., employs five staff members and operates a satellite office in Watertown.

Clough said the decision to part ways with Preston Carlisle and form the new firm did not stem from controversy.

"We are very grateful for everything Preston has done for us," she said. "We all get along. He had family commitments and we thought it was a good time to move on," she said of the split.

Clough said Ogdensburg and St. Lawrence County is great community and is need of law practitioners. She said the low income and employment rate means their a lot of indigents in need of representation.

"There is a real need for legal help here and we are hoping to provide it," she said. "Everybody has been really good to us and we want to give back to the community.

Clough said the firm specializes in negligence, social security, disability, workers compensation and criminal law.

She said the firm does free consultations and contingent work.

She said an open house is tentatively planned for Feb. 14.
