CANTON -- The Yoga Loft will be moving in July from 205 State St. to 30 Court St. Classes will end at Maplewood after community yoga on June 28 and resume at the new location July 5 with community yoga at 9 a.m.
The Court Street location will be temporary, six months to a year. During that time the non-profit The North Country Center for Yoga and Health (also known as The Yoga Loft) will raise funds to purchase a building.
With a fifteen-year history in Canton the board of directors feel it is time for The North Country Center for Yoga and Health to have a permanent home. “We have proven our staying power,” says Alison Brant, board president.
“With the exception of a few program-specific grants, like Yoga in the Park, the organization is primarily self-sustaining,” Alison Brandt said. “We are confidently looking ahead to the next 15, 20, 30 years and asking, how can we improve on what we are doing? A big part of the answer to that question is to own our facility. Having our own space will allow us to improve the current experience of our clientele; and it will enable us to expand what we have to offer to the community in new and exciting ways.”
The board of directors will announce its fundraising goal and plan to kick off their fundraising campaign once classes have resumed on Court Street.
“The upcoming move will return us to downtown Canton, which we are excited about. We also plan to purchase our own building in the downtown Canton area. It is worth noting that an average of 500 individuals attend our classes each month. That is a lot of foot traffic we can bring to Main Street,” Brandt said.
