CANTON – Sposa Bella, 81 Main St., is expected to close after 17 years serving the community.

The bridal shop, which is for sale for $250,000, sells gowns, bridal dresses, tuxedos and other attire for special occasions.

“After the sudden passing of Sposa Bella’s founding member the remaining party does not want to continue the business without her,” a statement on Sposa Bella’s Facebook page said. “It has been decided that the business will go up for sale.”

The business was co-owned by Michelle Scanlin and her daughter Erin Alguire. Scanlin passed away in November.

The $250,000 asking price includes the building and inventory. The building has a new roof and three finished floors. The top floor has a pair of occupied apartments that could create instant income for a potential buyer.

There is downstairs office space, extensive storage and original tin ceilings.

Interested buyers can contact Sposa Bella via email at sposabellacanton@hotmail.com or Facebook Messenger.

A final closing date has not been set as it depends on how sales of existing inventory go over the next week or weeks. Alguire said. Customers are encouraged to check on Facebook for updated days and hours of operation.

A post on the Facebook page thanked customers for their support over nearly two decades. The post said:

“Thank you to all of the wonderful customers who have become a part of the Sposa Bella family over the last 17 years. Thank you to the community who has shown us support. Thank you to the all of the people who have thought enough of us to share stories, laughter and tears with us. Thank you for being our prom customers and then our brides.

“Thank you for all of the hugs. Thank you for all of the cards and pictures that you have shared with us. Thank you to the most amazing, brilliant, beautiful women who have given us their time and their hearts while working for us. And thank you most of all for making my mother’s dream of owning a successful bridal shop in this small town come true.

“After 17 years Sposa Bella will be closing its doors. It began as her dream, I was lucky enough to share some of it with her and now I don’t want to be there without her.”
