CANTON -- The village’s Board of Trustees has approved a zoning request from the builders of a new Rite Aid store on East Main Street.
Rite Aid wanted a zoning change for a subdivision near the SeaComm building at 101 E. Main St. for their new store, and after review by the Planning Board, the trustees this week approved the subdivision and rezoning of the plot to C-2, General Commercial.
When the old store, in the Canton Plaza behind the Municipal Building, closes, it will leave another empty space in the plaza.
Among the next steps in the process of getting approvals for the new building is the site plan review, “where we’ll get a better idea of that it’s going to look like,” plus proposed setbacks and signage, said Mayor Michael Dalton.
