POTSDAM -- April L. Grant has been appointed to the position of executive director of the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Foundation.

She joins Barbara J. Burcume, Foundation Operations Coordinator, and will begin her duties Monday, Oct. 19.

Grant replaces Laura J. Cordts, who served as Executive Director of the CPH Foundation for twenty-two years. Cordts stepped into a new role with Canton-Potsdam Hospital as director of wellness and sustainability, which will focus on employee wellbeing and green initiatives in the hospital’s operations and impact on the community.

Grant comes to the Foundation with a background in fundraising as director of donor relations at Clarkson University.

In this role, Grant created and implemented comprehensive stewardship, strategic communications, and donor recognition plans and acted as liaison to Principal Gifts Planning, Leadership Giving, and Clarkson Fund areas of external relations and institutional advancement at Clarkson, hospital officials said.

Prior to this, she served as associate director of Financial Aid/Student Services, interim director of the Clarkson Fund, and associate director of Major Gifts. She has over 20 years of experience in identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.

Grant holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Clarkson University and is a member of the Association of Donor Relations Professionals, as well as the Council on Advancement and Support of Education.

She has been recognized by the Order of Omega Eta Iota Chapter (honor society) for which she acted as advisor. Grant served on the Clarkson University Safer and Healthier Committee, as a CU Connect mentor for first-year programs, and as a Development Committee Co-Chair of the local food-security non-profit Gardenshare.
