CANTON -- The Canton Chamber of Commerce and Canton businesses are working together with “Shop Local” plans, including staying open until 8 p.m. on Friday nights, Dec. 9,16 & 23.

With the village and the Canton Police Department supporting “Shop Local,” parking in Canton will be free from Nov. 25 through the end of December, but they emphasize that shoppers should be respectful of the handicapped and no parking spaces: parking there will still get you a ticket.

Shoppers can enter to win up to $660 worth of Canton Gift Certificates. Look for the Holiday Giveaway boxes. Drawings will be Nov. 25, Dec. 2, Dec. 9, and Dec. 16.

The traditional Canton Holiday of Lights downtown celebration is Friday, Nov. 25. Everyone is welcome to greet Santa and all his friends in the park downtown. The Canton Chamber and Coakley Carpet One Ace Hardware are helping Santa gather children’s story books for this event. People are asked to buy a couple of books while out shopping and drop them off in the book drive box at Coakleys.

Several businesses have set dates for special holiday open houses. They are:
