Canton-based Community Health Center now using new electronic medical record system

CANTON -- Community Health Center of the North Country is now operating with its new electronic medical record system.

Staff have been attending training sessions to prepare. The transition to the new system started in mid-April.

The new system is a digital record of a patient’s health information entered by and accessed by their health care providers.

Medical Director Dr. Andrew Williams says there are advantages to such a system, which “allows medical providers to have a more comprehensive understanding of their patient’s health; electronic medical records help to reduce medical errors and improve patient safety, our top priority; electronic medical records improve communication between primary care providers and specialists; electronic medical records will allow us to care for patients more efficiently; and a paperless system more effectively protects patient privacy.”

Community Health Center of the North Country is operated by Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country.

Dr. Williams said, “We will continue to provide compassionate, individualized medical care to all members of the community regardless of ability to pay.”
