OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg will have food and beverages at the Dobisky Center in July.
Ogdensburg officials approved a contract to bring a food vendor into the Ogdensburg Dobisky Center following a public hearing that garnered no comments. Monday evening.
Richard P. Wright, Heuvelton, is seeking a lease agreement with the city to rent the long-empty kitchen and concession area at the visitor Center.
Wright plans to offer a food and soft drink menu including hotdogs, hamburger, grilled cheese sandwiches, submarine sandwiches, chicken wings and more.
Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday.
Under the contract, Wright will pay the city $450 a month for use of the space and kitchen at the Dobisky center. The contract will run through the end of August.
Wright will also be responsible for metered utilities used at the kitchen and no alcohol may be sold at the visitor center.
Mayor Wayne Ashley said having food available in the city’s visitor center will be boon for the Greenbelt area.
“I think it’s a good thing for the city,” he said.
The city has struggled to find a vendor for the center for the last several years and even considered making the kitchen into a museum.
The council unanimously approved the contract. An exact opening date has not yet been hammered down
