MASSENA -- Belden Jewelers will close Jan. 30 as the store combines with Kay Jewelers, which are owned by the same company.
“We’re combining the two stores,” according to Sterling Jewelers Regional Manager Joann Falta.
She would not answer further questions, referring a reporter to their corporate public relations office. As of press time, they had not replied to a request for comment.
Kay’s Manager Victoria Mello said the stores will combine at Kay.
She doesn’t know if there will be any layoffs associated with the shift.
“We don’t really know yet. Human resources is taking care of everything,” she said.
Mello said Belden’s customers will have to take their jewelry to Kay to be cleaned or repaired.
The two stores opened with the mall in the early 1990s.
