St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Adult Education and Workforce Development will offer the following training courses for the month of September at its various community education centers.
Canton
• Healthcare Clerical Support, Sept. 10, 2018-Feb. 6, 2019 on Monday and Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.; comprehensive program prepares students for Certified Administrative Medical Assistant national certification exam.
• BLS Healthcare Provider Training starts Sept. 10, on Mondays, 1-4 p.m.; for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills.
• Phlebotomy Technician course Sept. 11-Dec. 18, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-8 p.m.; learn skills necessary to sit for the national certificate exam for entry-level placement as a Phlebotomist.
• Introduction to Human Services Sept. 11-Nov. 8, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-8 p.m.; introductory course for entry-level employment as a Direct Support Professional.
• First Aid begins Sept. 27, on Thursdays from 5-9 p.m.; students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver ® First Aide Completion card that is valid for two years.
Norwood
• National Electric Code Sept. 10-Nov. 19, on Mondays, 5-9 p.m.; intended for electricians, inspectors and contractors needing to meet federal, state, and local requirements for performing electrical work.
• Introductory Welding Sept. 10-Nov. 19, on Mondays, 4:30-8:30 p.m., includes basic metallurgy, hand tool usage, basic repair, and safety training for welders; no experience needed.
• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sept. 1-Jan. 15, on Tuesdays, 4:30-8:30 p.m.; introductory course in the principles of refrigeration and air conditioning, which includes testing for Class I, II, III and EPA required certification to handle refrigerants.
Massena
• 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course, beginning Sept. 15, on Saturdays, 11:45 a.m.-5 p.m.
