Wayne and Marilyn LaPointe recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Wayne and Marilyn LaPointe of Potsdam happily celebrated with family May 30, 2013.
The couple wed in 1953, while Wayne was on leave from the Navy.
Wayne served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954. After his time in the Navy, he owned an electrical contracting business, LaPointe Electric, along with various properties and small businesses, including LaPointe’s Liquor and The Kit n’ Kaboodle Giftshop.
Marilyn worked for 10 years at New York Telephone and then helped Wayne run their businesses.
Celebrating with them were Wayne’s sisters Genevieve Miller and Shirley Sharlow, and Marilyn’s sister, Carole Goolden and husband Lee Goolden.
Wayne and Marilyn have three children, Michele LaPointe, Wayne (Tony) LaPointe Jr. (Barbara Adams), and Paul LaPointe (Gina LaPointe), all residing in Potsdam.
They also have seven grandchildren: Jessica Durand (Fla.), Danielle LaPointe, Kristin Oegema (Bart Oegema, Calif.), Colin LaPointe-Potter (Tammy LaPointe-Potter, Ind.), Courtney LaPointe, Jordan LaPointe, and Michael Knaebel.
They also have many nieces and nephews.
They have one great-grandchild, Marty Oegema (Calif.).
