Thomas W. and Jane E. (Cougler) Rivet proudly announce 46 great years of marriage on December 17, 2013.
Tom and Jane were married originally while Tom was home on leave from the Naval Air Force, in Brier Hill. Tom had to return to duty immediately with Jane following a few days later where they lived in Coronado, California.
They were remarried in June 1981 at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg during one of their summer vacations.
In California Jane worked as a registered nurse at the nearby hospital in San Diego, while Tom was completing his last year of military service at North Island Naval Air Base.
When they left California, Tom with an honorable discharge and several military medals and insignia they spent a month or so at home, after which Tom was accepted to a college in Chicago. Jane worked as a registered nurse at Bellmont Community Hospital and Tom received his bachelor's in electrical engineering and obtained a job in R&D at Hammond Organ Company.
In 1983 Tom & Jane returned to the North Country when Tom received a job offer R&D at Mitel Corporation in the business park in Ogdensburg. The new job was a great chance for them to return "home" to be near their aged parents and relatives.
The couple has two children, William Alonzo Rivet and Vicki Lynn (Rivet) Ibison. Son Bill lived in Connecticut prior to his passing and Vicki lives with her husband and two children in Parker, Colorado.
No party is planned but anyone who wishes is welcome to stop by between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 17.
They are now happily retired and living at 311 Irish Settlement Rd, Heuvelton.
