James A. and Betty H. DeCarr of Massena had their 60th anniversary on Nov. 2.
They celebrated with their children on the night of Nov. 4 and with a brunch the following day.
They have four children -Terry L. DeCarr of Shelburne, Vt.; James R. DeCarr of North Haven, Conn.; Lisa A. DeCarr Schmidt of Greenfield, Wisc.; and Julie L. DeCarr of Massena, along with eight grandchildren and two dogs.
They were married by Rev. William O. Thomas on Nov. 2, 1957 in a candlelight ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Massena. The matron of honor was Janet Brownell of Massena. The best man was the late Robert Grimshaw of North Bangor.
James retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Massena in 1989 after working there for 31 years. He also served four years in the U.S. Navy, including nine months in Korea. He is a former exalted ruler for the BPOE Elks in Massena
Betty retired from SUNY Potsdam in 1994 after working there for 22 years. She enjoys line dancing, and the couple enjoys their two small dogs.
