Bill and Doris (Watts) LaPoint, Knapps Station, celebrated their 54th anniversary during today’s snowstorm. The LaPoints were married in Hopkinton’s Catholic church Dec 27, 1958 while Bill was home on leave from the air force.
The snowstorm reminded the LaPoints of their wedding day. “I just measured the snow and we have 15” in our drive and knee deep in the yard, and brings back memories of 1958,” said Bill. The snowfall on their wedding day in 1958 accumulated to ten inches, Bill recalls. “The banks that year were so high people had red cloth on their antennas.”
The couple spent the first four years of their marriage in Germany. They share three children, a son in Central Square who has a wife named Tracie and twin children named Marc and Ashley; daughter Chantelle who married Wayne Sweeney and has a daughter named Myranda and daughter Melinda who married Brian Dustin and has three daughters, Lyndsi, Lauren and Kursten.
The LaPoints also have a six-month-old great-grandaughter, Aliyah.
