CANTON — The SUNY Canton Criminal Justice Department will host its annual Law Enforcement Day for the public, law enforcement professionals and students from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 28.

All are invited to take part in activities and attend presentations throughout the day in the college's Richard W. Miller Campus Center Kingston Theater. Parking is available in Lots 1, 6 and 7.

Law Enforcement Day allows students to connect what they are learning in the classroom to their chosen career field. Law enforcement professionals and the general public are also encouraged to attend to network with presenters, students and faculty.

The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a hands-on demonstration of impairment goggles, also known as "drunk goggles," which simulate the effects of alcohol use and illustrate the dangers of driving under the influence.

Following the demonstration, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Leighton Filiatrault will discuss the county's STOP-DWI program.

At 1 p.m., retired New York State Trooper Amanda Reif will discuss her PTSD journey and the critical incident aftermath of being wounded while investigating a domestic incident in St. Lawrence County in 2007.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Lisa Colbert at colbertl@canton.edu or call 315-386-7327.
