David Franklin Peabody, 77, formerly of Pitcairn

PITCAIRN -- David Franklin Peabody, 77 of Brooksville Florida, formerly of Pitcairn, NY passed away at home on March 16, 2024, after a brief illness.

A celebration of life will be held at the Moose Lodge on Wiscon Rd. in Brooksville, FL on April 2nd at 3 p.m.

David was born in Gouverneur, NY on November 28, 1946, to Franklin and Ella (Thompson) Peabody.

After high school, he spent one year in Vietnam. David returned from the army and drove truck across country for several years before becoming the mechanic for the Town of Fine.

He and the love of his life, Keitha Cole resided in Fine, NY for several years where they raised their children before they moved into the family farmhouse in Pitcairn in 1989.

David was an avid hunter and could fix anything he put his hands on. If he wasn’t spending time with his friends and family playing pool and shuffleboard and enjoying his Busch Lights, then you would find him in the back yard puttering around with his best faithful companion, Mia.

Surviving are his wife, Keitha, and their children: Chantelle (Rusty) Woods of Wolcott, NY, Tamara (Marshall) Spies, Dexter, NY, David Peabody, Pitcairn, NY, Shelley (Brad) Pratt, Brooksville, FL, John (Shaleen) Jackson, Harrisville, NY, Diane (Donnie) Thomas, Harrisville, NY; his 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Frank (Eva) Peabody, Conklin, NY, Nancy Travis, Binghamton, NY, Dick (Becky) Peabody, Oswegatchie, NY, Edie Taylor, South Edwards, NY, Donna (Ricky) Thayer, Edwards, NY, Dianne (Pete) Cowles, Wedgefield, SC and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father, Frank and mother, Ella; and his brothers-in-laws, Dick Taylor and Butch Travis.

Per David’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.

A celebration of life will be planned in NY over the summer to a get all his family and friends together to remember and celebrate David’s life.
