POTSDAM — Village Department of Public Works crews have started the annual brush pick-up along village streets.
The DPW issued guidelines for pick-up on the village Facebook page earlier this week.
The department is requesting that village residents place brush piles neatly stacked so crews can access them easily with loaders and other equipment.
Residents are asked to avoid piling brush around telephone poles and trees so the loader can retrieve it without causing any undue damage.
Brush should be cut and stacked no longer than 10 feet so it will fit in the trucks, the DPW said.
The department will not pick up trash, paper or plastic, wood with nails, metal of any type, construction debris, appliances and household items.
“Your brush pile WILL be left at the street if you do not adhere to these regulations until they are met. Please be courteous of your neighbors, avoiding stacking brush so high that they can’t safely gain access in and out of their driveway,” the DPW said.
Village crews are expected to be making the rounds for brush pickup over the next few weeks to ensure everything is picked up.
The DPW post said that after the spring cleanup period is over, brush pickup will be completed on the week of the last Monday of every month during summer months only.
Residents with special cleanup circumstances are advised to contact the village barn at 315-265-4620.
