The family of Norwood-Norfolk Central School third grader, Tucker DeRouchie, received $1,778 from his classmates to help with medical and travel expenses from battling meningitis. Tucker, shown with classmates holding a check replica, spent three weeks in a Syracuse hospital. He was treated for brain swelling and had to learn to walk and talk again before returning to school Feb. 5. Students raised money selling positivity pebbles and through donation jars in the community. “The school and community were very supportive in our fundraising,” said teacher Michelle Beauchamp.
