Jessie Kozak was named 2023 Potsdam Fire Department Firefighter of the Year.
The department hosted the annual Ladies Night Banquet April 13 at Potsdam Elks Lodge 2074 with about 80 members and guests attending, according to James Corbett, Potsdam firefighter.
Kozak was joined by several family members who traveled to Potsdam from Western New York, he said. He also earned the "Springarm Award" for his driving efforts.
John Keleher was once again named the "Agitator of the Year" for 2023.
Three Chiefs Awards were presented for exemplary service. They were awarded to Michael Keleher, Stephen Davis and Jay Bradish.
Jessica Searles was named 2023 Rookie of the Year.”
Justin McGregor was honored for 10 years of service, Brendan Corbett for 20 years, Dan McGregor for 30 years and Tim Jerome for 35 years.
“Jerome retired from the Chiefs rank having served 20 years in the various levels,” Corbett said. “We thank him for his service. In appreciation he was presented a flag and axe plaque.”
The evening featured entertainment provided by DJ Todd Truax and was emceed by West Stockholm Fire Chief Torey Russell.
“The Department would like to thank the members of the Canton Fire Dept. who stood by at Potsdam Station to allow our members a night out,” Corbett said.
